MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif addressed the Legislative Assembly of Azad Kashmir on the Kashmir Solidarity Day on Wednesday and said this reminds India that Kashmir cannot be a part of it with actions like that of 5th August 2019 when New Delhi abolished the disputed territory’s special status.

“On behalf of the people of 24 crores people  of Pakistan, we salute the great martyrs of Kashmir.”

The prime minister said that February 5 is a day to renew our firm commitment to the freedom struggle of the Kashmiris. It is a day to remind India and the international community that Kashmir cannot be a part of India with actions like August 5.

The people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir have to decide about their future by using their right to self-determination as promised under the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Shehbaz Sharif said it is in the best interest of India and the region to come out of the mindset of August 5, 2019, that the Kashmir issue cannot be resolved through war and brutality or by any unilateral decision of India.

He added that India had been increasing its army in occupied Kashmir, but the yearning for the freedom of Kashmiris is also increasing.

The Prime Minister said Kashmir issue will not be solved by shedding the blood of Kashmiris, those who shed blood will be remembered as oppressors in history.

Kashmir is not a part of India, Kashmiris do not consider it as Kashmiris, UN resolutions do not recognize it as part of India, he added.
