ISLAMABAD: US President Donald Trump has confirmed that his Middle East envoy will travel to Pakistan this week to resume negotiations aimed at ending the ongoing Iran conflict.
Speaking in a phone call from the White House, Trump said that Special Envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to arrive in Islamabad on Monday night ahead of a second round of peace talks scheduled for Tuesday.
The US president also revealed that Jared Kushner, who has previously played a key role in Middle East diplomacy, will be involved in the upcoming discussions.
The talks are part of renewed diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and move toward a negotiated settlement in the region.
