ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly will elect the leader of the house at its session to be held on Sunday.
Shehbaz Sharif of the PML-N and Umar Ayub Khan of Sunni Ittehad Council have filed nomination papers for the slot of the prime minister and the papers were scrutinized and approved by Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq.
Shehbaz Sharif is the candidate of the allied parties in the house including PML-N, PPP, MQM. These parties have already elected the speaker and deputy speaker of the house with majority.
It is expected expected that members belonging to the PTI sitting in the house under the banner of Sunni Ittehad Council will as usual make a ruckus as they did during the inaugural session and later when the speaker was elected.
In the house of 336 members, at least 169 votes are required for the election of the prime minister.The allied parties have 209 members in the house.
