LAHORE: Overseas Pakistanis can now complete property transactions in Punjab without traveling to Pakistan, following the successful completion of the province’s first digital land registry through the Pakistan High Commission in London.
The Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA), in collaboration with the Board of Revenue Punjab, completed the landmark transaction for a Pakistani citizen based in London who transferred land in Punjab to a buyer in Pakistan.
The seller’s statement was recorded remotely through a secure digital link in London, while the remaining legal and registration process was completed electronically.
PLRA Director General Ikram-ul-Haq said the initiative would help strengthen overseas Pakistanis’ confidence in the land records system while making property transactions more transparent, secure and convenient.
The service is initially available to Pakistanis living in the United Kingdom. According to the PLRA, the facility is expected to be extended to overseas Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates within the next 30 days in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The authority said the initiative marks a major step toward modernising land-related services and providing overseas Pakistanis with secure, transparent and citizen-friendly facilities without requiring them to return to Pakistan for property transactions.
