ISLAMABAD: Police Martyrs’ Day is being observed across Pakistan today to honour police officers and personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty and to express solidarity with their families.
Special ceremonies, guard-of-honour events and wreath-laying ceremonies are being held at police lines and memorials across the country.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the brave police personnel who embraced martyrdom while protecting the country’s peace and security.
In separate messages, both leaders praised the courage, dedication and sacrifices of police officers, saying their services would always remain a source of pride and command the deepest respect of the nation.
President Zardari said the police force continues to remain at the forefront of the fight against crime, terrorism and violent extremism. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening police institutions through better training, modern technology and improved resources.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the welfare of the families of police martyrs remains a key responsibility of the government. He pledged continued support, including access to quality education, healthcare and other welfare facilities.
The day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by police personnel in safeguarding citizens and maintaining peace across the country.
