FAISALABAD: A major incident involving the alleged hacking of the IT system of Government College University Faisalabad has surfaced, with the results of dozens of students reportedly altered.
According to the report, unauthorized individuals logged into university teachers’ portals and changed the results of 32 students across 72 courses, increasing their marks.
The university administration has approached the FIA Cyber Crime Wing and requested an investigation into the incident.
The scandal came to light after the university’s Controller Office identified discrepancies between manual and online records. The results of the students involved were subsequently withheld.
Initial investigations reportedly indicate that the same person was involved in attempts to increase the marks of all the students. Faculty portals were repeatedly accessed from a specific IP address on different dates.
It has also been reported that the students allegedly paid money to have their results changed. However, none of the 32 students involved has been issued a DMC based on the allegedly altered results.
