ISLAMABAD: China has described terrorist organisations operating in Afghanistan as a serious threat to neighbouring countries, warning that their capability to carry out cross-border attacks is continuing to increase.
Speaking at a United Nations meeting on threats to international peace and security, Chinese Deputy Permanent Representative Sun Lei said terrorist groups based in Afghanistan remain a serious threat to neighbouring countries.
He urged the Taliban authorities to fulfil their counterterrorism commitments and take effective and decisive action against all terrorist elements operating in Afghanistan.
The Chinese envoy stressed the need to closely monitor the counterterrorism situation in Afghanistan.
