MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu & Kashmir Election Commission has rejected the registration application of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The decision was made because of irregularities in financial matters and party accounts.
The commission said PTI failed to meet the requirements of Rule 121, and the audit officer confirmed that the violations continued.
The Election Commission also stated that PTI representatives and their lawyers were given a full opportunity to present their case during the hearings. Despite this, the issues in the party’s accounts were not resolved, leading to the rejection of the registration.
ThE decision means that PTI will not be officially recognized for upcoming elections in Azad Jammu & Kashmir until the party addresses the financial and procedural discrepancies. The commission emphasized that all political parties must follow the required rules to maintain transparency and accountability.
