LAHORE: A United States delegation visited several of Lahore’s most prominent historical and cultural landmarks on Saturday, including the mausoleum of Pakistan’s national poet and philosopher, Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
During the visit, the delegation paid tribute at Iqbal’s mausoleum before touring the historic Lahore Fort, where members were briefed on the site’s architectural, cultural, and historical significance. The delegation also explored key sections of the fort, including Hazuri Bagh, Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas, Sheesh Mahal, the Alamgiri Gate, and the Picture Wall.
The delegation later visited the iconic Badshahi Mosque, expressing interest in its Mughal-era architecture, historical background, and religious importance.
Officials from the Walled City of Lahore Authority, led by Director General Najam-ul-Saqib, welcomed the delegation and provided detailed briefings throughout the tour. According to the authority, the visitors also appreciated ongoing heritage conservation and restoration efforts aimed at preserving Lahore’s historic sites.
The visit was intended to promote awareness of Lahore’s rich cultural heritage and tourism potential. Officials said such exchanges help showcase Pakistan’s historical legacy to the international community and encourage cultural tourism.
