Annual Inflation Rate Falls to 13.52% Despite Rise in Prices

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s overall annual inflation rate has declined to 13.52%, according to the latest weekly report released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The report showed that weekly inflation fell by 0.98%, although prices of 23 essential commodities increased during the period.

Among the sharpest increases, tomato prices surged by 125.40%, followed by onions (10.72%), potatoes (10.06%), eggs (8.32%), and flour (5.08%). Prices of milk, yogurt, rice and several other food items also recorded an increase.

On the other hand, the report noted a decline in the prices of several commodities. Chicken became 1.97% cheaper, while banana prices dropped by 1.44%. Prices of pulses, sugar, petrol, LPG and garlic also decreased during the week.

The latest data reflects mixed price trends, with a drop in overall inflation despite continued increases in the cost of several key household items.
