PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) has opposed imposition of governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after reports emerged that majority of the federal cabinet at a recent meeting had supported the proposal.
A spokesman for the ANP said that governor’s rule was not a solution to any issue and the federal government should hold talks with PTI which was in majority in KP. Under the law, a governor’s rule can be imposed for three months only.
It may be noted that there were reports that at a meeting of the federal cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, majority of the cabinet members supported the proposal to impose a governor’s rule in KP.
They said that by storming the federal capital in the name of protest march and using government resources twice the provincial government had created a justification for the governor’s rule.
However, it was decided in the meeting that a final decision would be taken after consulting with allies, including the ANP and the PPP.
