Pakistan Grateful to US Over repatriation of 31 Pakistanis: Dar

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has expressed gratitude to the United States for its cooperation in the successful repatriation of 31 Pakistani and Iranian nationals who were previously held aboard a seized vessel.

In a statement, Ishaq Dar said that 11 Pakistani citizens have safely returned home, while 20 Iranian nationals have also been successfully repatriated with coordinated diplomatic efforts.

He stated that assisting citizens in distress abroad remains one of the government’s top priorities, adding that Pakistan continues to take active steps to ensure the welfare of its nationals worldwide.

The foreign minister also thanked the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Singapore for their continuous cooperation and support throughout the process.

He appreciated Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi for his confidence in Pakistan’s efforts and reaffirmed continued collaboration for the safe return of Iranian citizens.

Ishaq Dar further acknowledged the role of the United States Secretary of State, expressing appreciation for close coordination that helped facilitate the repatriation process.

He also thanked the government of Thailand for providing transit facilities via Bangkok, which enabled the smooth transfer of the citizens.

According to the statement, Pakistani nationals traveled from Singapore to Bangkok before boarding a flight to Islamabad, while arrangements were also made for the return of Iranian citizens.

The foreign minister said that all individuals are safe and are currently on their way back to their respective countries.
