HANGU: Security forces killed seven terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Hangu, while an army captain was martyred while fighting the terrorists, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The operation was conducted on August 7 after security forces received intelligence about the presence of terrorists linked to Fitna al-Khawarij in the area. According to ISPR, troops effectively targeted a terrorist hideout during the operation.
Seven terrorists were killed, while weapons and ammunition were recovered from their possession. ISPR said the terrorists were involved in the killing of several civilians.
The military’s media wing said Captain Hamza Ikram fought bravely during the operation and embraced martyrdom while leading his troops. He was pursuing the terrorists when he was martyred.
A sanitisation operation is continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining terrorists, ISPR said.
The military reiterated that the counterterrorism campaign would continue with full force to eliminate the threat of terrorism. It added that the sacrifices of the country’s brave soldiers further strengthen the nation’s resolve to protect its people and safeguard national security.
