Bangladesh Sets 437-Run Target for Pakistan

SYLHET: Bangladesh set a massive target of 437 runs for Pakistan in the second Test match at Sylhet, putting the visiting side under pressure as they began their second innings by the close of the third day with both openers yet to score.

Bangladesh scored 390 runs in their second innings, building on a 46-run lead from the first innings to secure a commanding overall advantage. Mushfiqur Rahim starred with a brilliant 137, while Liton Das contributed 69 and Mahmudullah added 52.

The hosts resumed the day on 110 for three. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was dismissed for 15 as the total reached 115. Liton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim then shared a key partnership before Bangladesh lost their fifth wicket at 238 with Das out for 69.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz made 19 runs, and contributions from Tej Islam, Taskin Ahmed, and Shoriful Islam helped take the innings to 390, ending with Mushfiqur Rahim’s dismissal.

For Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad took four wickets, Sajid Khan three, Hasan Ali two, and Mohammad Abbas one. In the first innings, Pakistan was bowled out for 232, giving Bangladesh a 46-run lead, with Liton Das scoring a remarkable 126.

As day three concluded, Pakistan faced a challenging chase of 437, with the openers yet to get off the mark.
