Bangladesh Whitewash Pakistan By 78-Run Victory
SYLHET: Bangladesh completed a dominant series sweep after defeating Pakistan by 78 runs in the second Test, sealing a historic whitewash on home soil.
Chasing a challenging target of 437 runs, Pakistan resumed their innings on the final day at 316 for 7, needing 121 more runs for an unlikely win. Despite fighting knocks from Mohammad Rizwan, who scored 94, and Sajad Khan with 28 runs, the visitors could not complete the chase.
Pakistan’s batting lineup collapsed at crucial stages, finishing all out for 358 runs. Earlier contributions from Shan Masood and Salman Ali Agha, who both scored 71, and Babar Azam’s 47 provided resistance, but it was not enough to turn the match around.
Bangladesh’s bowling attack proved decisive once again. Taijul Islam led the charge with six wickets, while Nahid Rana took two wickets. Shoriful Islam and Mehidy Hasan also chipped in with key breakthroughs to dismantle Pakistan’s lower order.
With this win, Bangladesh not only clinched the second Test but also completed a clean 2-0 series sweep, marking one of their most memorable Test series victories against Pakistan.
