Bureaucracy is the biggest hurdle in curbing inflation: federal ministers

ISLAMABAD: Federal cabinet has blamed the bureaucracy for profiteering and hoarding of goods in the country, however, they demanded action against the bureaucracy. Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the issue of inflation, hoarding and various commodity crises will be brought to the bottom of the issue.

A meeting of the Federal Cabinet was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan in which the 12-point agenda as well as the political and economic situation of the country and the protest movement of the opposition parties were discussed.

The Federal Cabinet was briefed on the availability of wheat, sugar and other essential commodities. The Ministry of Industry briefed the meeting on the import schedule and reduction in prices of sugar.

The federal cabinet has allowed Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) to conduct pre-shipment inspections for wheat imports, approved applications for mutual legal assistance from non-treaty countries while installing telecommunication systems and equipment. The relevant policy decision was postponed, the proposed amendments to two provisions of the law passed by the International Civil Aviation Authority were ratified while the plan for rehabilitation of Pakistan Railways was also approved.

Stressing on urgent measures to curb the ongoing spiraling inflation in the country, the federal ministers said that the steps taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan to curb gran-selling were correct but bureaucracy was a major obstacle in resolving the issues, adding that cabinet members should take action against the bureaucracy. He suggested that the bureaucracy involved in the wheat crisis should be fully identified.

Prime Minister Imran Khan on the occasion said that the issue of inflation and stockpiling and crisis of various commodities will reach the bottom, maximum steps should be taken to control the price of food, until inflation is controlled will not leave China. The Prime Minister also convened an important meeting on reduction in wheat and flour prices.

During the meeting of the Federal Cabinet, he strongly condemned the blasphemous sketches in France, which hurt the feelings of millions of Muslims. Cabinet members said that the promotion of blasphemous sketches is not acceptable. There is a difference between freedom of expression and blasphemy. Hate is being spread under the guise of expression, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the world must get out of Islamophobia, the international community should end double standards.
