LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has sought a response from the Punjab Chief Secretary by May 13 regarding a petition against raids conducted by the para-force on theaters and drama halls.

The hearing was presided over by Justice Ahmed Nadeem Arshad, and the petition was filed by Saber Ali and other theater contractors. The petitioners were represented by Mian Dawood, Advocate.

The petitioner’s lawyer argued that the government itself has designated operating hours for theaters and drama halls from 11 PM to 1 AM, and these venues do not consume electricity or other resources beyond this period. He emphasized that theaters and drama halls were exempted from the austerity measures, yet the police and para-force continue to conduct raids.

The lawyer further stated that these illegal and unauthorized raids are causing financial losses, urging the court to restrain the para-force and police from conducting further raids or sealing the premises.
