Dar, Rubio Discuss Regional Situation, Boosting Pak-US Ties

WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, where both leaders discussed evolving regional and global developments as well as bilateral relations.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Dar said the talks were productive and focused on enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and the United States, with an emphasis on promoting peace and stability in the region.

He stated that Pakistan played a key role in facilitating the initial ceasefire between the United States and Iran through sustained diplomatic engagement, adding that efforts were once again underway to support de-escalation.

Dar described the meeting with Rubio as cordial, noting that senior officials, including Pakistan’s ambassador and foreign office representatives, were also present.

He reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to peace-building efforts and highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and military leadership, the country has strengthened its global diplomatic standing.

The foreign minister emphasized the shared objective of advancing peace and prosperity, expressing optimism about further strengthening ties between the two countries.
