Govt top priority to bring back looted wealth, PM Imran reiterated

 

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that illegal transfer of money from poor countries is the main cause of backwardness and poverty in these countries, however, the first priority is to ensure all measures to bring back the looted wealth from Pakistan.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Shahid Kardar called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad. Federal Minister Hamad Azhar, Finance Advisor Abdul Hafeez Sheikh and Special Assistant Dr. Waqar Masood were also present in the meeting.

During the meeting, prevention of money laundering, measures for recovery of looted money and the overall economic situation of the country were discussed.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to hold the looters of national wealth accountable, PM Imran said that the first priority was to ensure all possible measures for the repatriation of looted wealth from Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi also called on the prime minister and apprised him of the overall situation in the ports.

The overall situation in Karachi was also discussed during the meeting. PM Imran Khan directed the Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs to provide financial assistance to the fishermen as well as all possible facilities for their welfare.
