NANKANA SAHIB: Celebrations for the 556th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, have begun in Nankana Sahib in Punjab.
Thousands of Sikh pilgrims from around the world are arriving to take part in the three-day event.
According to local officials, around 30,000 Sikh pilgrims are expected to attend the main ceremony. More than 2,000 pilgrims from India will arrive through the Wagah Border on Tuesday. Preparations to welcome them have been completed.
To ensure the safety and comfort of the visitors, the district administration has made special arrangements. Over 5,000 police officers and security personnel are deployed.
A mini hospital, dispensaries, and rescue camps have been set up at the Gurdwara Janam Asthan and other holy sites. Cleanliness, food services (langar), and free shuttle transport have also been arranged.
Facilities such as banks, money exchange counters, and help centers are available for the pilgrims.
The main ceremony will take place on November 5 at Gurdwara Janam Asthan, while the celebrations will conclude on November 6.
