NEW DELHI: A hacking group has claimed it obtained sensitive data linked to India’s largest nuclear power plant and has put the allegedly stolen information up for sale on the dark web.
According to Reuters, the hackers claim the data includes confidential files, maps of nuclear facilities, supplier details and other sensitive documents.
The group also alleged that the information was obtained through Reliance Group, although the claim has not been independently verified.
Reports said the data has been listed for sale on the dark web, raising fresh concerns over cybersecurity and the protection of India’s critical infrastructure.
Indian authorities and the relevant organisations have not yet confirmed or denied the hackers’ claims and are assessing the nature and potential impact of the alleged breach.
Cybersecurity experts said that if the claims are verified, the exposure of sensitive infrastructure-related information could pose serious risks to national security, the energy sector and the security of critical facilities.
They added that nuclear, energy and government institutions worldwide have increasingly become targets of cyberattacks in recent years, highlighting the growing importance of securing critical digital infrastructure.
