WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump thanked American Muslims for their support in the presidential election while speaking at an Iftar dinner at the White House.
President Trump hosted an Iftar dinner at the White House, which was attended by ambassadors, including Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, and diplomatic staff members of Muslim countries.
In his address, Trump once again extended Ramazan greetings to the Muslim community and expressed good wishes for them.
The US President said that Ramazan gives a message of peace, security and brotherhood. American Muslims voted for me in record numbers in the presidential election. The Muslim community supported me in November, now I will be there for them as President.
He said that we want peace in the whole world, my administration is engaged in tireless diplomacy for lasting peace in the Middle East. Progress will be made on the historic Abraham Agreement, he said, adding that no work was done on this Agreement during the presidenship of his predecessor Joe Biden.
“I look forward to working with my Muslim friends for a bright and hopeful future.”
He said that they are bringing down inflation by reducing energy prices. The prices of many essential items in the United States were out of control due to Joe Biden’s incompetence. We have reduced the prices of many food items such as eggs in the United States by 50pc, he added.
