Iran Closes Hormuz Again After Israeli Attacks in Southern Lebanon

TEHRAN: Iran has announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz in response to ongoing Israeli military strikes in southern Lebanon, further intensifying already high tensions in the Middle East, according to media reports.

The decision was confirmed in a statement issued by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters, which described the move as a “first practical step” in response to alleged violations of a ceasefire agreement.

According to the statement, the United States and Israel have repeatedly breached the terms of the agreement, prompting Iran to take what it called a retaliatory measure by closing one of the world’s most critical maritime routes.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces continued strikes in southern Lebanon, reportedly killing at least 16 people and injuring several others. Lebanese authorities have expressed concern over the escalating situation, with the country’s prime minister condemning Iran’s actions and warning of further regional instability.

The developments have raised alarm internationally, as global powers urge restraint and call on all sides to return to diplomatic channels to prevent further escalation in the region.
