TEHRAN: The Iranian Football Federation has outlined seven conditions for its national team’s participation in the upcoming FIFA World Cup, emphasizing strict security measures, unhindered visas for players and staff, and respect for national symbols within stadiums.

The federation stated that all concerns must be addressed by the three co-hosting countries— the United States, Canada, and Mexico—before Iran confirms its participation. The Iranian state news agency reported that the team has earned its spot through merit and no external force can prevent it from competing.

The FIFA World Cup is scheduled next month across the three North American countries. Iran qualified for the tournament by drawing 2-2 against Uzbekistan in March 2025 and securing first place in the third round of the Asian Football Confederation qualifiers. This marks Iran’s fourth consecutive World Cup appearance, having previously competed in 2014, 2018, and 2022. Historically, Iran first played in the 1978 FIFA World Cup and later participated in 1998 and 2006.
