ISLAMABAD: Technical-level talks between Iran and United States have concluded in Switzerland, with both sides agreeing to establish multiple working groups to advance discussions on key issues, Iranian state media reported.
According to officials, the newly formed groups will focus on sanctions relief, nuclear matters, economic reconstruction and development, as well as monitoring and implementation mechanisms.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said the negotiations ended successfully at the technical level, paving the way for more structured engagement.
Separately, Iran’s chief negotiator Bagher Ghalibaf said Tehran entered the talks with the objective of reducing prolonged instability in the region and had achieved meaningful progress.
The development comes amid broader diplomatic efforts that have seen easing tensions in key areas. Reports indicate that restrictions on Iranian oil production and exports have been temporarily lifted for 60 days, while around $12 billion in previously frozen assets are being released.
Efforts involving regional mediators, including Pakistan and Qatar, have also contributed to shaping a framework aimed at de-escalation and a potential long-term agreement between the two countries.
