TEHRAN: Iran has said it does not seek confrontation with neighbouring or Islamic countries but warned that continued US military strikes could expand the conflict to new fronts.
Iranian military spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia said Tehran remains committed to maintaining brotherly relations and cooperation with countries in the region.
He said the primary responsibility of Iran’s armed forces is to defend the country’s security, national interests and sovereignty, adding that all necessary measures would be taken to fulfil that mission.
Akraminia stressed that Iran has no intention of confronting neighbouring states and instead prioritises regional stability and cooperation.
However, he warned that if the United States continues its military attacks, Iran could broaden the scope of its response.
He said Iran has not yet employed all of its military capabilities and that any further attacks would trigger a response based on evolving circumstances, which could be stronger than expected.
The remarks come amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, with increased military activity heightening concerns over regional security in the Middle East.
