Legend of Maula Jatt Heads to China with Grand Premiere
ISLAMABAD: Pakistani blockbuster The Legend of Maula Jatt premiered in Beijing in a Chinese-language version, marking a major milestone in cultural and cinematic collaboration between Pakistan and China.
The grand premiere was held ahead of the film’s official nationwide release across China, scheduled for May 21, 2026. The event highlighted growing ties between the two countries in the field of film and entertainment.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, said the film would introduce Chinese audiences to the vibrant storytelling, culture, and artistic depth of Pakistani cinema. He expressed confidence that the movie would resonate with viewers and strengthen cultural understanding between the two nations.
The release has been made possible under a film co-production agreement signed in June 2024 between Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the China Film Administration. The agreement aims to promote joint productions and expand collaboration between filmmakers of both countries.
Widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s most successful films, The Legend of Maula Jatt has already gained international recognition, and its entry into the Chinese market is expected to further boost its global reach.
