Miss France Withdraws from Miss Universe After 73 Years
PARIS: Miss France has announced that it will not participate in the Miss Universe 2026 pageant, ending a continuous 73-year involvement in the global competition.
The organization confirmed the decision through a statement shared on Instagram, saying its values and identity no longer align with the current direction of the Miss Universe platform.
France has been part of the contest since 1952, making this the first absence in over seven decades.
The statement also referred to concerns about “irregularities and mismanagement” in the 2025 edition of the pageant.
Miss France clarified that the decision is limited to the upcoming event and left open the possibility of returning in future editions, depending on developments within the competition.
