ISLAMABAD: In response to the continued spread of the poliovirus, the government of Pakistan has decided to further strengthen its anti-polio efforts with a nationwide vaccination campaign.
According to the National Emergency Operations Centre, a special campaign will be conducted from May 18 to May 24, targeting approximately 19 million children across 79 districts.
The campaign will be carried out simultaneously in Pakistan and Afghanistan to effectively curb cross-border transmission of the virus.
Officials stated that around 6.19 million children will be vaccinated in Punjab, 5.79 million in Sindh, 4.61 million in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 1.99 million in Balochistan. In the federal capital Islamabad, approximately 450,000 children will be covered under the campaign.
Authorities emphasized that protecting children from polio is a national responsibility and urged parents to fully cooperate with vaccination teams by ensuring their children receive the drops.
The campaign is part of ongoing efforts to eliminate polio and secure a healthier future for children across the country.
