ISLAMABAD: The next round of negotiations between Iran and the United States is expected to begin in Pakistan on July 11, according to a report by Saudi media.
According to Al Arabiya, the talks will commence after the conclusion of funeral ceremonies for Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
The report said the negotiations are expected to focus on several key issues, including sanctions imposed on Iran, the release of frozen Iranian assets and Tehran’s nuclear programme.
Al Arabiya also reported that Iran and the United States recently held indirect talks in Doha, Qatar, which U.S. President Donald Trump described as constructive.
Following those discussions, Iran claimed that an agreement had been reached on the release of several billion dollars of its frozen assets. However, the United States denied the Iranian claim.
The reported plans for talks in Pakistan have not been officially confirmed by either Washington or Tehran.
