Old enmity, bomb blast claim nine lives

Police say four persons died in bomb blast in Turbat and five people were shot dead due to old enmity in Peshawar.

ISLAMABAD: Nine people lost their lives in a bomb blast and an armed clash due to old enmity in Balochistan and Khyber Pakthunkhwa on Saturday.

Police authorities said that in the bomb blast at Turbat town of Balochistan, four people were killed and about 30 others injured. The injured were shifted to hospital where five of them were stated to be in critical condition.

Police and other law enforcement agencies personnel reached the spot and cordoned off the area and started an investigation. However, more details were not available when this report was filed.

In Peshawar, police said five persons were shot dead due to an old enmity. Six others were also injured in the incident. The police said that members of a family were returning home from a wedding ceremony when they were ambushed at Tehkal area of Peshawar.

The police said that a case had been registered over the incident, but so far no arrest had been made.

The police added that both the groups had an old enmity and on Saturday when one of the groups opened fire on their rivals the latter also retaliated causing the deaths and injuries.
