ISLAMABAD: The opposition Grand Alliance has announced nationwide protests to be held on Friday against the political and economic situation in the country.

The decision was made during a high-level meeting of the Tehreek Tahaffuz Ayeen Pakistan, chaired by Mahmood Khan Achakzai, where leaders expressed serious reservations about governance and growing public hardships.

According to a joint statement, the opposition criticized the government for its handling of inflation, unemployment, and law and order. The alliance also demanded the release of political prisoners and called for the immediate transfer of the party’s founding chairman to a hospital. Participants reiterated the need to uphold constitutional supremacy and democratic values.

The alliance further condemned the recent increase in petroleum prices and the rising cost of living, announcing that protest rallies will be held at district headquarters across the country.

Leaders vowed to continue their struggle for the restoration of democracy and to oppose what they described as unconstitutional legislation and a “fake assembly.”
