ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has condemned the attack on Saudi Arabia and said the kingdom has the right to defend itself under international law.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi, speaking at the weekly media briefing, said Article 51 of the United Nations Charter gives Saudi Arabia the right to take necessary measures in self-defence.
He said Pakistan considers regional peace and stability a top priority and urged all parties to exercise restraint. Islamabad also remains committed to diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and bringing the relevant sides to the negotiating table.
The spokesperson said Pakistan supports the effective implementation of the memorandum of understanding between Pakistan, the United States and Iran.
He also welcomed Kuwait’s ratification of a defence cooperation agreement, noting that Pakistan maintains close defence ties with Jordan and Bahrain as well.
