ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Egypt have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in key areas of internal security, including counter-terrorism, anti-narcotics, cybercrime prevention, and safe city initiatives.
The understanding was reached during a meeting in Islamabad between a visiting delegation of Egypt’s Interior Ministry and Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry.
Both sides reviewed avenues to deepen institutional collaboration between their respective law enforcement systems. They agreed to enhance cooperation between Pakistan’s National Police Academy and Egypt’s Police Academy through joint training programmes for officers.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi said practical steps would be taken to further strengthen relations with Egypt and expand cooperation in security-related fields. He added that a Pakistani delegation would soon visit Egypt to explore new opportunities for collaboration.
Talal Chaudhry highlighted that there are wide-ranging opportunities for partnership between the two countries in counter-terrorism, narcotics control, and internal security.
The meeting was described as part of ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral engagement and promote capacity-building between the two countries’ interior ministries.
