ISLAMABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan has said Pakistan’s victory during last year’s conflict with India enhanced the country’s global standing and demonstrated the strength of its military and diplomatic capabilities.
Addressing a gathering at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) on the first anniversary of Maraka-e-Haq, Khan said Pakistan’s armed forces responded with precision and professionalism, proving the country’s preparedness and deterrence capability during a critical moment.
The former Pakistani ambassador to the United States, China, and the United Nations said the episode tested Pakistan’s deterrence capability and demonstrated the operational effectiveness and technological strength of the armed forces.
Referring to the events of May 6 last year, Khan termed the response a source of national pride, saying it helped safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence.
He also praised Pakistan’s handling of information and diplomacy during the crisis, stating that the country maintained international credibility by relying on verified facts while countering misinformation.
According to Khan, Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement during and after the conflict contributed to improved relations with major powers, including the United States, and strengthened ties with regional partners such as Saudi Arabia.
He further stated that Pakistan had played a facilitating role in sensitive diplomatic engagements between global actors, enhancing its international standing.
Addressing domestic issues, the AJK president highlighted the importance of youth in Pakistan’s future, noting that nearly two-thirds of the population consists of young people.
He urged the younger generation to prepare for leadership roles and said Pakistan aims to become one of the world’s leading economies by 2047.
Khan also emphasized the need for continued vigilance in light of regional challenges, while calling for greater focus on economic stability, technological advancement, and foreign investment.
