ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Kenya’s bilateral trade reached a record US$1.023 billion during the fiscal year 2025–26, marking a significant milestone in the growing economic relationship between the two countries.

According to Rafiq Suleman, President of the Pakistan–Kenya Business Council, the achievement reflects the strengthening of trade and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Kenya.

He noted that Pakistan’s exports to Kenya, including hosiery, garments, pharmaceuticals, and other value-added products, recorded encouraging growth during the year. At the same time, Kenya’s tea exports to Pakistan also increased.

Suleman said that reaching the one-billion-dollar mark was once considered an ambitious target. He attributed the achievement to sustained efforts by the Pakistan–Kenya Business Council, in collaboration with relevant institutions, to strengthen commercial ties, promote business-to-business engagement, and explore new opportunities for trade and investment.

To celebrate the milestone, the Pakistan–Kenya Business Council plans to organize events in Nairobi and Islamabad. The ceremonies will recognize the contributions of officials from both countries’ diplomatic missions, including the Pakistani High Commission in Nairobi and the Kenyan High Commission in Islamabad, for their role in facilitating bilateral trade.

Suleman emphasized that surpassing the US$1 billion threshold is not the end of the journey but the beginning of a new phase of cooperation. He expressed confidence that continued collaboration between the two governments, trade organizations, and the private sector would further expand bilateral trade and unlock new opportunities for investment, industrial cooperation, and economic growth in the years ahead.
