NEW YORK: The Consulate General of Pakistan in New York held an outreach event to engage the Pakistani-American community on investment and financial opportunities available through Pakistan’s banking sector, including the Roshan Digital Account initiative.
The event, “Unlocking Diaspora Capital” arranged in collaboration with Bank of Punjab was attended by members of the Pakistani-American community, business leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, and community representatives from across the Consulate’s jurisdiction.
Welcoming the participants, Mr. Aamer Ahmed Atozai, Consul General of Pakistan in New York, highlighted the significant contribution of overseas Pakistanis to Pakistan’s economic development and emphasized the importance of strengthening engagement between the diaspora and institutions in Pakistan.
He noted that overseas Pakistanis remain one of the country’s greatest assets and continue to play a vital role through investment, remittances, philanthropy, and knowledge sharing.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, underscored the government of Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating greater economic participation by overseas Pakistanis and strengthening the enduring partnership between Pakistan and its diaspora community.
The participants also received a comprehensive presentation from Mr. Zafar Masud, President and CEO of the Bank of Punjab and Chairman of the Pakistan Banks’ Association, who highlighted the range of banking, investment, and financial services available to overseas Pakistanis.
He shared insights into the Roshan Digital Account initiative and discussed opportunities for overseas Pakistanis to contribute to Pakistan’s economic growth through secure and accessible financial channels.
The presentation was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session, during which participants engaged in a productive dialogue on banking services, investment opportunities, and ways to further strengthen financial linkages between Pakistan and its overseas community.
The event reaffirmed the government of Pakistan’s commitment to deepening engagement with overseas Pakistanis and promoting initiatives that facilitate investment, economic collaboration, and sustainable development.
