UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to peace, sovereignty and principled diplomacy on the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq.

In a message marking the occasion, the envoy paid tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces for what he described as their courage, professionalism and defence of the country against unprovoked aggression. He also commended the unity and resilience of the Pakistani people.

He termed Marka-e-Haq a “defining moment” that underscored Pakistan’s resolve to safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national dignity, adding that aggression cannot be normalised or justified through false narratives.

Reiterating Pakistan’s longstanding stance, the ambassador said the country seeks peace but stressed that lasting stability in South Asia depends on adherence to international law and peaceful resolution of disputes, including the Jammu and Kashmir issue in line with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

He noted that Pakistan remains committed to dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful coexistence in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter. In this regard, he highlighted Pakistan’s role in the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2788 in July 2025, aimed at strengthening mechanisms for the peaceful settlement of disputes.

The envoy concluded that Pakistan would continue to pursue peace with sincerity while remaining prepared to defend its sovereignty with resolve.
