ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that Pakistan will host a landmark ceremony in Geneva on Friday to mark the US–Iran peace agreement, calling it a significant breakthrough for regional and global stability.

Addressing the National Assembly, the prime minister said the United States and Iran have agreed to an immediate and permanent end to military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. He described the development as a “dawn of peace after a night of war.”

He said the agreement represents not just a bilateral understanding but a broader victory for diplomacy and peaceful negotiation. He also praised US President Donald Trump and Iranian leadership for demonstrating “wisdom, vision, and patience” during the talks.

The prime minister acknowledged the contributions of several countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and China, in facilitating the peace process.

He added that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts played a constructive role in advancing the initiative, saying the country had earned international recognition for promoting peace and stability.

PM Shehbaz Sharif also commended Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his “extraordinary role” in supporting the negotiation process.

Referring to the economic impact of the conflict, the prime minister said the government took timely steps to shield citizens from inflationary pressures and pledged that any economic gains from the peace agreement would benefit the public.

The government has yet to release further details regarding the Geneva ceremony or the implementation framework of the agreement.
