Pakistan, US Agree to Further Strengthen Bilateral Relations

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Paul Kapur, the United States Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, in Islamabad to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.

The meeting was attended by Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, and senior officials from Pakistan’s Interior Ministry.

During the talks, both sides held detailed discussions on Pakistan–US relations, the evolving situation in the Middle East, and avenues for enhancing cooperation. Key areas of focus included security collaboration, counterterrorism efforts, and joint measures to combat narcotics trafficking.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi said that Pakistan and the United States share a relationship based on mutual trust and cooperation. He noted that ties between the two countries have strengthened in recent years and emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to further expanding bilateral engagement.

The interior minister also highlighted that full security has been provided to US companies working on the Reko Diq project and expressed hope for the early resumption of direct flights between Pakistan and the United States. He further voiced optimism for a peaceful and lasting resolution to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.

Paul Kapur, on his part, appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region and reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to broadening cooperation with Islamabad across multiple sectors.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing their intent to maintain close coordination and strengthen diplomatic and strategic ties.
