Consul General of Pakistan in New York Aamer Ahmed Atozai and the Trade and Investment Counsellor Adnan Mahmood Awan visited New Jersey to explore avenues for enhanced economic cooperation between Pakistan and the state.

They met New Jersey Assemblywoman Shama Haider and held productive talks with local business representatives, says a press statement.

He also highlighted key industries where Pakistan and New Jersey-based businesses could mutually benefit from increased engagement.

The trade and investment counsellor in a presentation briefed the lawmaker and the business representatives about investment opportunities in Pakistan, especially in the IT, agriculture, mining, and tourism sectors.

He also explained Pakistan’s investor-friendly policies, and its preferential trade agreements, including GSP+ status with the European Union and a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with China.

Moreover, Mr. Awan underscored the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in streamlining investment processes to create a more business-friendly environment. The discussion sparked interest among participants, who inquired about infrastructure, incentives, and taxation policies.
