ISLAMABAD: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) on Saturday condemned the attack on NDM chairperson Mohsin Dawar in Mir Ali area of Noth Waziristan.
Dawar was fired on allegedly by security forces while attempting to reach the returning officer’s office in Miranshah to obtain the results for NA-40, said the HRCP in a statement.
At least six other people, including minors, were also injured and one police officer was reportedly killed.
According to media reports, Dawar was attacked when he was leading a protest against alleged rigging in the elections at NA-40 where earlier he had claimed leading.
As of the latest results received so far in my constituency NA-40 North Waziristan, I am leading the polls but there are blatant attempts to rig the final results. 27 Presiding officers are being held hostage at Shewa Qila. FC Personnel are forcing them to sign blank Form-45.

“This is the second such attack on Mr Dawar since January and reflects yet again the violence that has marred this election, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, affecting political candidates, law enforcement personnel and civilians. We demand a prompt and transparent inquiry into this incident,” said the HRCP statement.
