Pakistan’s Cultural Heritage Draws Attention at Romanian Exhibition
BUZAU: Pakistan’s rich cultural legacy and architectural splendor came into focus in Romania as the Embassy of Pakistan in Bucharest launched a photographic exhibition, “Pakistan: Pages of a Story,” at the Buzau County Museum during the European Night of Museums celebrations.
The month-long exhibition presents a vivid glimpse into Pakistan’s landscapes, traditions, festivals and historic landmarks, attracting large crowds on its opening day.
Special emphasis has been placed on the architectural brilliance of the Mughal era, marking 500 years since the establishment of the Mughal Empire in South Asia. Among the prominent sites featured in the exhibition are Badshahi Mosque, Shalimar Gardens, Wazir Khan Mosque, the Tomb of Emperor Jahangir, Hiran Minar and Chauburji.
Renowned Lahore-based photographer Yasir Nisar contributed nearly half of the displayed photographs, while the remaining images were produced by students from the Institute of Communication Studies at the University of the Punjab and the School of Creative Arts at the University of Lahore.
The exhibition showcases the work of young photographers including Mahnoor Ashraf Watoo, Malaika Rauf, Afan Asad, Muhammad Hassan, Noreen Asim, Agha Fahad Ali, Arman Nadeem, Tehreem Fatima, Shaneela, Toqeer Nasir, Asad Ali, Zoha Ishtiaq, Muhammad Ahmad, Ume Habiba, Momin Ali, Mehreen Fareed, Laiba Umer and Ahmad Jamil.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Romania, Ilyas Mehood Nizami, inaugurated the exhibition alongside Buzau County Museum General Manager Daniel Bolocan.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Nizami highlighted the historical and cultural significance of the Mughal heritage, noting its lasting impact on the region’s governance, art, architecture and cuisine.
He appreciated the efforts of all participating photographers and thanked the museum administration for facilitating the event.
The ambassador said cultural diplomacy and people-to-people exchanges remained an important pillar of Pakistan-Romania relations, adding that the exhibition would further strengthen bilateral friendship through shared appreciation of heritage and culture.–APP
