Palestinian footballer killed by Israeli forces

GAZA: A 23-year-old Palestinian footballer was shot dead by Israeli forces during clashes with Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, according to media reports on Tuesday.

Ahmed Daraghmeh was among over six Palestinians who were shot and injured by the Israeli forces. The Palestinians were targeted when they exchanged fire with Israeli troops who raided the city of Nablus to escort Jewish Israelis to a site known as Joseph’s Tomb.

Daraghmeh was from the nearby town of Tubas and played football for the West Bank Premier League club, Thaqafi Tulkarem.

Arabic football website Kooora listed him as having been the team’s top scorer this season, with six goals. It was unclear whether he was taking part in the confrontations.
