UK announces visa-free entry for many ME countries

British govt says visitors from Gulf countries play important role in British economy.

LONDON: The United Kingdom has announced the facility of visa-free entry for many Middle Eastern countries.

The facility will be applicable from February 22, 2024. The facility would also be available for Gulf Cooperation Council and Jordanian citizens.

Citizens of Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia would need electronic travel authorization to enter the UK.

A British government spokesperson said that people from the Gulf countries were an important part of the British economy.

It added that in the year 2022, over 290,000 people visiting the UK from the Gulf countries spent over two lac pounds in the UK.
