PM Khan inaugurates Peshawar BRT

PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Imran Khan has inaugurated a long-awaited Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit Project (BRT) on Thursday, while addressing the ceremony he called it the best metro-bus project in the country.

He said this modern form of transport which consist of 27.5 Kilometers long is covering Peshawar in its entirety.

The premiere said that despite his reservations Defense Minister and earlier KP Chief Minister had insisted for BRT. While tributing him PM Imran said “Pervez Khattak had always said that you will realize the importance of BRT once it is completed”.

The premiere said so all I want to say is that Pervez Khattak was right and we all were wrong.

PM Khan has said that “our programmes should give priority to the improvements of common citizens”. While calling BRT tickets just right he said everyone can afford tickets price ranges from Rs 10 to 50.

He said a good transport system bring change. The project will increase per capita income and bring prosperity in Peshawar, PM Khan said.

At the cost of Rs 70 billion, BRT is 27 km long track with 146 stops which will facilitate 4 million citizens per day.

The BRT project were initiated in October 2017 by the then KP government with an expected cost of Rs 49 billion and a six month deadline for its completion.
