PM Shehbaz Departs for Switzerland to Attend US-Iran Talks

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has departed for Switzerland along with a high-level delegation to participate in technical-level talks between the United States and Iran.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the talks are being held in continuation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with discussions scheduled to take place in Bürgenstock, Switzerland.

The prime minister will be joined by Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, during the negotiations.

Officials said the talks are part of follow-up engagements after the signing of the MoU, aimed at advancing dialogue between the concerned parties.

Meanwhile, key international representatives have already reached Switzerland. US officials, including Jared Kushner, are present, while US Vice President JD Vance is also en route.

On the Iranian side, a high-level delegation led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has arrived, accompanied by senior officials including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and other key members of Iran’s diplomatic and economic team.

The talks are expected to focus on technical aspects of ongoing negotiations, with further developments likely following the meetings.
