LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has released its list of candidates for the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections, finalizing party tickets for 19 general seats out of a total of 24.
The tickets have been issued with approval from party president Nawaz Sharif. According to the official list, candidates have been nominated across key constituencies in the region.
From Gilgit-I, Shafiq-ud-Din will contest the election, while Hafeez-ur-Rehman has been nominated for Gilgit-II. Muhammad Iqbal will represent Gilgit-III. In Hunza, Ghazanfar Ali has been fielded for constituency-6.
In Skardu, Muhammad Akbar will contest from Skardu-I, while Imtiaz Haider Khan and Ajmal Hussain have been nominated for Skardu-II and Skardu-III respectively.
Other candidates include Mohsin Rizvi from Kharmang, Tahir Shigri from Shigar, Farhan Ali from Astore, Rana Farooq from Astore-II, Abdul Waheed from Diamer-I, Engineer Muhammad Anwar from Diamer-II, Muhammad Zaman from Diamer-III, and Malik Kifayat-ur-Rehman from Diamer-IV.
From Ghanche, Muhammad Ibrahim Thana has been nominated, while in Ghizer, Zafar Muhammad, Abdul Jahan, and Ghulam Muhammad will contest from different constituencies.
Party sources say the remaining seats will be finalized after further consultations, as PML-N aims to strengthen its position in the upcoming elections in the region.
