LAHORE: The Punjab government has ordered the closure of all theatres across the province from the 1st to the 13th of Muharram, with the Punjab Arts Council issuing a formal notification in this regard.
According to the notification, no stage dramas or cultural performances will be allowed during this period as a mark of respect for the sanctity of Muharram.
Authorities directed theatre managements to strictly comply with the restrictions and ensure suspension of all scheduled events.
Meanwhile, across the province and the country, security and administrative arrangements for Muharram are being finalized, with law enforcement agencies stepping up measures at sensitive locations and procession routes to maintain peace and order.
