CAIRO: Foreign ministers of Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye have expressed support for the recent Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the United States and Iran, describing it as a positive move toward reducing regional tensions.

In a joint statement issued after their fourth consultative meeting in Cairo, the ministers said the agreement marks a constructive step toward de-escalation and could help ease wider conflicts that have raised concerns about regional stability, energy security, maritime routes, and global trade flows.

The ministers emphasized the importance of building on this momentum through continued negotiations aimed at reaching a lasting, verifiable, and mutually acceptable settlement on outstanding issues between Washington and Tehran.

They also stressed the need for sustained coordination among regional and international stakeholders to support peace and stability in the Middle East. The statement highlighted appreciation for ongoing diplomatic efforts that helped facilitate the understanding, noting the importance of implementing all commitments in good faith.

Pakistan was specifically acknowledged for its role in facilitating the outcome, alongside support from Qatar during the negotiation process.

Beyond the US–Iran development, the ministers reviewed broader regional challenges, particularly the humanitarian and political situation in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. They reiterated that the Palestinian issue remains central to achieving a comprehensive and lasting peace in the region, reaffirming support for a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state.

The meeting concluded with a call for continued dialogue and closer coordination among the four countries to strengthen regional security, stability, and long-term prosperity.
